I have been really trying to write as much as I can the last week or so but these exams have been really eating up my ability to do so. At the very least, I've more or less figured out exactly what I'm after for my next selection and, more importantly, figured out a fresh way of writing
This weekend I'm going to have a good amount of time to myself to decompress from all this excessive studying (even though I'm diligently trying to find work) and I'll sit down on the keyboard to compose some music for Onto Savor City (maybe).
Speaking of older stuff, the post preceding this one is one I wrote for a friend and realized it was more of an anthem for myself and the people around me. Whenever one of us falls, we're alway there to pick each other up. I don't know, seemed nice to me. Wrote it in about 20-30 minutes. It's funny how fast things can be thrown together, flabbergasting really.
Also, check this out whenever you get a chance. Awesome stuff for old-school gamers:

Brotherhood of Hearties
When you're trapped in caverns
That run so deep, you can't feel your face
When you're left this battered
The bruises in your heart feel commonplace
And if this tunnel collapsed
You might find relief underneath debris
But we can't let you do that
We're going to bring you out to breathe
Before the madness came
There were our silly afternoons
Who knew what we were up to?
But we were laughing, so were you
Before the winter came
And left you here feeling this cold
Remember those you've kept close
We'll come marching, we'll bring you home
When you're lost in fields of mines
You're afraid each blast might be the last one
You're reaching right out to the sky
With arms fatigued, hoping for good to come
Until we come from above
Bringing you all the relief you'll need
'Cause we won't let you give up
We're going to bring you out to see
Before the madness came
There were our silly afternoons
Who knew what we were up to?
But we were laughing, so were you
Before the blizzard came
And buried you beneath the cold
Remember those you've kept close
We'll come marching, we'll bring you home
We'll keep you warm
Before the madness came
There were our silly afternoons
Who knew what we were up to?
But we were laughing, so were you
Before all the pain came
And hurt you, left you alone
Remember those you've kept close
We'll come marching, we'll bring you home
We'll keep you warm
We'll keep you warm
That run so deep, you can't feel your face

Blog: Onto Savor City / Intro
Hello, this is a new thing for me so bare with me.
I've been writing for as long as I can remember and there have been a handful that have seen that through the years. The last few months I've felt comfortable enough to showcase it publicly so here is the ultimate showcasing, I suppose.
I'd consider the 13 postings below my 'debut album' if you want to call it that (links on the right). There are some lyrics there that I've had written for years (Lost Voicemail Message was written five years ago) and some were written just the other day (Below Caviar written approx. a week ago).
'Onto Savor City' is simply a referendum, personally, to continuously march toward that place of imagination and creativity that keeps our minds going, whether at work or in a diary. It's also an anagram of my name. Ha!
I'll continue to post new things as they come to form and 'albums' when I feel a certain collection of lyrics I've written tie in nicely, and possibly (MAYBE, lol) actual audio versions once I figure that part out.
Enjoy what you can, I'm sure not everything is great to everybody but let me know what you may think anyway.
Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope I can keep you around.

1 / Rise & Shine
Walking across this beach shore
All the ocean waves seem to clash then sink
Walking along, I'm wanting more
I want to see the water shaking hands with ink
See them side by side sharing a glass of wine
Telling me that they're enjoying these tides
They're drunk and dancing while the sea life's laughing
Under this bright moon, showing one day we
Can rise, fly above the clouds up high
Help you see the surface flicker from the sky
Yeah, we'll shine deep into the night
We'll help you see we're stars, you and I
Yeah, we can keep our city bright
Walking across this sidewalk
Westward green and northbound red, they fight
Walking along, I find no calm
All the streetlights struggle to synchronize
Then if lightning strikes, bringing them all to life
Turning them as yellow as the moon tonight
And then the thunder sounds, and you hear the crowds
Cheer under this bright moon, showing one day we
Can rise, fly above the clouds up high
Help you see the surface flicker from the sky
Yeah, we'll shine deep into the night
We'll help you see we're stars, you and I
Yeah, we'll rise, fly above the clouds up high
Help you see the surface flicker from the sky
Yeah, we'll shine deep into the night
We'll help you see we're stars, you and I
Yeah, we can keep our city bright
Walking past the sidewalks, into the beach
I can feel the sand sink right through my feet
Walking past the sidewalks, the city
I can lift skyscrapers, now isn't that silly?
But if you closed your eyes and let the thought breathe
You'd see water and ink mix, and you'd see
Us rise, fly above the clouds up high
Help you see the surface flicker from the sky
Yeah, we'll shine deep into the night
We'll help you see we're stars, you and I
Yeah, we'll rise, fly above the clouds up high
Help you see the surface flicker from the sky

2 / Mountains in the Sea
I see all the paper floating down
But hear whispers touch on the ground
So I stand still, watch in awe
And think "I have never felt this before"
I want to stack sheets next to clouds
Stand up high then knock them down
If only just to hear that sound
And think "If this is what I've missed, I want more"
I want to dive into the deep end
And close my eyes, just listen in
To each movement, to each breath
I want to fly up to the surface
Open my eyes, feeling breathless
Swimming within this bliss
I see the rain trickling today
But hear it tapping on my windowpane
So I sit still, watch amazed
And think "I have never felt this before"
I want to drop mountains in the sea
Or just a penny off the street
If only just to hear it, please
And think "If this is what I've missed, I want more"
I want to dive into the deep end
And close my eyes, just listen in
To each movement, to each breath
I want to fly up to the surface
Open my eyes, feeling breathless
Swimming within this bliss
But hear whispers touch on the ground
So I stand still, watch in awe
And think "I have never felt this before"
I want to stack sheets next to clouds
Stand up high then knock them down
If only just to hear that sound
And think "If this is what I've missed, I want more"

3 / Faith
We're caught in the crossfire of tragedies that transpire
Beaten to the bone with these tears that never cease fire
We're lost in a daze, enough with this patience
We haven't sought help but we just can't take this
Caution to children who might never see the day
Might never see the confidence flowing down their face
That one day he will return, come back when they've heard
That the foolish battle's over, there has been enough hurt
But they hang onto the thread of a line they were told
Hold onto it through the harsh winds of the cold
While their mothers keep 'em whole, they still feel alone
Can't live with themselves waiting for dad to come home
But all they can do is just sit and wait
For the door to open on a sunny day
But it's been raining for the past three days
And all they can remember are his words in faith
"I love you"
"I love you"
"I'll miss you"
"Don't worry, I'll come back"
They said, "Don't go Dad"
"You'll die, Dad"
He said, "Don't say that"
"Don't worry, I'll come back"
Now let's take a more definite look at our soldiers
Written with the rage that's worn, ripped on their shoulders
Marked with the memories that keep them all warmer
Produced by the power that pushed them into this corner
Caught in the crossfire of leaders being liars
What is there to do when the few don't put out the fire?
What is there to say when we pray when we're all tired?
Looking to the skies above for that love inspired
For that love given to them from their troubled wives
Wrapped, alone, at night in their bed in fright
Tries to keep her eyes dry, hide that fear inside
That something might've happened to him in this fight
But all she can do is just sit and wait
For the door to open on a sunny day
But it's been raining for the past three days
And all she can remember are his words in faith
"I love you"
"I love you"
"I'll miss you"
"Don't worry, I'll come back"
She said, "I'll lose you"
"Don't go, I'll lose you"
He said, "Don't say that"
"Just have faith that one day I'll come back"
So the little children prayed on their knees
"Bring daddy back in one piece, please"
And the lonely wife saw them plead
Embraced them and told them "He's fine. You'll see."
But all they can do is just sit and wait
For the door to open on a sunny day
But it feels like it's been raining all damn day
And all they remember are his words in faith
"I love you"
"I love you"
"I'll miss you"
"Don't worry, I'll come back"
"I love you"

4 / Time
This isn't time to think about it yet
Just stop and focus on this moment
Capture this memory / please, just smile for me
There's no sense in going down this path
So just buy a little more time
Imagine being there that night
Watching me walk that starlit line
Without you, it just wouldn't feel right
And as I'm walking by
All these people in my life
It's that glow within your eyes / I need
'Cause I know deep inside
That I'll crumble
Walls around my heart can't stand the thought
And I'll stumble
Right inside your memories, makes me stop
And then wonder
Staring at the skies when time is up
If I'll remember
All your joy instead of the pain to come
This isn't time to think about the end
I know there's a little life left in you yet
So just buy a little more time
So you can hold this newborn life
Imagine that sight, such delight
Without you, it just wouldn't feel right
And as I'm surrounded
By these people in my life
It's that warmth you bring / I need
'Cause I know deep inside
That I'll crumble
Walls around my heart can't stand the thought
And I'll stumble
Right inside your memories, makes me stop
And then wonder
Staring at the skies when time is up
If I'll remember
All your joy instead of the pain to come
I know it's time, dreadfully clear
You've given everything you can just to make it here
It just isn't fair, I'm not prepared
Is it selfish to want to keep you here 'cause inside I'm scared
That I'll crumble
Walls around my heart can't stand this thought
That I'll stumble
Right inside your memories and I'll stop
And then wonder
Staring at the skies when your time's up

5 / Lost Voicemail Message
Hello?
Hi there, how are you doing?
Haven't talked in a while now, I've been busy doing
What I got to do, you know? Money ain't fluent
You have to work to understand it and then you can use it
Sorry about the missed calls, I've had my phone off
Temporary cut-offs just so I can move on
How's the independent life? You find yourself yet?
I've heard it's tough out in the summer from a couple of friends
I hope things are going well, got your last e-mail
I've been keeping up with your stories, what's with those dark tales?
Keep yourself together man, well I got to go
I'll try calling you later when you're actually home
Leave me a line, anything to let me know you're there
Drop a message, anything to let me know you're aware
Of the discrepancy between us, that's only filled up by air
By the pollution that's clogging up our ability to care
Hello?
What's up, I guess? I'm not sure what to say
On an answering machine recording me on tape
I've tried reaching you lately cause I want to talk to someone
I've been getting laid off or fired, it's been killing my income
I'm calling from this payphone, my cell phone is dead
There's no power at home, I was behind on my rent
So they cut off the power and cut off the heat
So how's the independent life, you ask? It's been killing me
I thank you for your hope but it won't help out
You're right about the summer, I'm still living in doubt
Wish I could speak often but you're busy with your nice life
Oh shit, I'm out of quarters, I guess that's all, goodnight
Leave me a line, anything to let me know you're there
Drop a message, anything to let me know you're aware
Of the discrepancy between us, that's only filled up by air
By the pollution that's clogging up our ability to care
About each other, I hope you know that I'm still there
Drop a message, anything to let me know you're aware
Of the discrepancy between us, that's only filled up by air

6 / Below Caviar
Careful with your footsteps
You can't leave evidence
There's just no time to think
Hurry, just get what you need
Time's up, alarm bells sound
Echoes through this marble house
Grab everything and just fly
Let's hope we just sneak right by
Down here, below caviar
Amenities, they come so hard
Desperate times indeed so sir
Here survival, it comes first
So we don't apologize
When there's no time left to waste
The harvest moon has arrived
To provide some insight
Gives us a moment to think
How far we've fallen for needs
Time's up, no more shopping
Blaring lights come barging
Grab everything and just fly
Let's hope for some clearer skies
Down here, below caviar
Amenities, they come so hard
Desperate times indeed so sir
Here survival, it comes first
So we won't apologize
For broken promises you made
Victim from the pressure
We can't recognize the figure
Staring at us like we're strangers
As you're stumbling for answers
Once again, you don't deliver
Become a repeat offender
And there aren't any filters
That turns failures into silver
Down here, below caviar
Amenities, they come so hard
Desperate times indeed so sir
Here survival, it comes first
We don't commit any crimes
We do what we must to escape
These struggles unscarred
Amenities come hard
Desperate times indeed so sir
Desperate times indeed
You can't leave evidence
There's just no time to think

7 / Armed Monster Warning
Another long night
We're both exhausted
We've been beaten and bruised
By the strength of our words
The embers start to flame
Inside this picture frame
Like sparks just trying to reconnect
And leaving all these ashes instead
But every flaw's the final straw
Before we're swallowed in the rage
Destroyed all I've loved
A monster I've become
Dumping my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
See you as the enemy 'cause I can't take this
Targeting your heart with all my frustration
Another bad sign
We won't get past this
You started lighting this fuse
Things will only get worse
These embers become flames
Inside this picture frame
Burning up what was once there
Leaving ashes scattered everywhere
And each chance seemed like the last
But now we're swallowed in the rage
Hate what I've done
This monster I've become
Dumping my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
See you as the enemy 'cause I can't take this
Shoot you in the heart with all my frustration
What have I done?
Attacked the one I loved
The trigger was the answer
When I saw none
Letting all my anger make my decisions
Turning my own lover into the victim
Dumped my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
What have I done?
Attacked the one I loved
Dumped my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
What have I done?
Murdered the one I loved
The fire that emerged
Became this hungry urge
Couldn't hide it away
Inside this picture frame
Back when we felt like one day we'd make it
But you on the ground has my whole world shaken
Dumped my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
What have I done?
You were the one I loved
We're both exhausted
We've been beaten and bruised
By the strength of our words
The embers start to flame
Inside this picture frame
Like sparks just trying to reconnect
And leaving all these ashes instead
But every flaw's the final straw
Before we're swallowed in the rage
Destroyed all I've loved
A monster I've become
Dumping my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
See you as the enemy 'cause I can't take this
Targeting your heart with all my frustration
Another bad sign
We won't get past this
You started lighting this fuse
Things will only get worse
These embers become flames
Inside this picture frame
Burning up what was once there
Leaving ashes scattered everywhere
And each chance seemed like the last
But now we're swallowed in the rage
Hate what I've done
This monster I've become
Dumping my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
See you as the enemy 'cause I can't take this
Shoot you in the heart with all my frustration
What have I done?
Attacked the one I loved
The trigger was the answer
When I saw none
Letting all my anger make my decisions
Turning my own lover into the victim
Dumped my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
What have I done?
Attacked the one I loved
Dumped my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
What have I done?
Murdered the one I loved
The fire that emerged
Became this hungry urge
Couldn't hide it away
Inside this picture frame
Back when we felt like one day we'd make it
But you on the ground has my whole world shaken
Dumped my emotions
In the barrel of a gun
What have I done?
You were the one I loved
8 / Never Tomorrow
Smiles made of ceramic, eyes covered up in plastic
Hiding behind this mask when/ever you're in a panic
Don't get into that habit of getting automatic
Freezing without notice, no comment or reaction
Can't act like mannequins with all this anguish
Don't internalize your thoughts, it builds like acid
And I can't stand this, I need to know
Before the catalyst comes and you explode
These sweet sounds, they travel and drown
Who didn't listen?
Like pieces in play, we attack and break
Where's all the reason?
There was none, we've become blind
Did we cause all of this?
We've suffered for a fortnight
How did we allow this?
Your sandpaper skin makes you hard to squeeze again
Thorns grow on your head, sound the horns, it's self-defense
You're always in that habit of getting in that fashion
Of closing every seam to your heart until it passes
Can't act like machines with all this anguish
Don't drown out my words, I'm trying to get past it
But you can't stand this, you need to know
Before the catalyst comes and I explode
These sweet sounds, they travel and drown
Who didn't listen?
Like pieces in play, we attack and break
Where's all the reason?
There was none, we've become blind
Did we cause all of this?
We've suffered for a fortnight
How did we allow this?
Nails were bitten, hair was pulled
Skin was ripped, just couldn't believe
Our body's broken, our hearts stitched
Back together from the beating
We stand back up, numb with feeling
Endless tremors, knees are shaking
Times are tough, these seconds stretch
Clock ticks louder, our minds won't rest
Never again can we make this mistake
Never tomorrow, no more of these dark days
These sweet sounds won't travel and drown
We will listen
Like pieces in play but we'll sit and wait
We'll find a reason
This means too much to lose sight
Only to let it all end
Never again, we won't live in regret
Never tomorrow, we won't allow this
Hiding behind this mask when/ever you're in a panic
Don't get into that habit of getting automatic
Freezing without notice, no comment or reaction
Can't act like mannequins with all this anguish

9 / Heartplay
So place your hand gently on my chest
Do you feel that beat on repeat?
It's my heart playing so we can relax
Cause when we're upset, it's hard to face facts
And let that hymn surround us
With the patience that we need
'Cause when we're upset, at each other's heads
There's not much that brings us peace
So place your head gently on my chest
Do you feel that beat on repeat?
It's my heart playing so we can rest
Lulling you into a dream so intimate
So let that lullaby bring
All the solitude we need
'Cause when we're asleep, it just seems
We become so peaceful, so at ease
So place your hand gently on my chest
Do you feel that beat on repeat?
It's my heart playing you a melody
Listen to the rhythm, just lay with me
And let that hymn surround us
Just let it bring us peace
Do you feel that beat on repeat?
It's my heart playing so we can relax
Cause when we're upset, it's hard to face facts
And let that hymn surround us
With the patience that we need
'Cause when we're upset, at each other's heads

Just let it bring us peace
10 / Sunshower Sprinkles
On a cold winter day
If that breath of yours would fall on me
It'd feel like the warmth of a flame
But on each of these days
The doubts about the distance keeps
Itself flowing through my veins
And each time I cross this path
These same thoughts, they hold me back
Until I turn and see the water shine
Sprinkles of sunshine splash along this lake
Like the smile that replaced those tears along the way
Sunshowers spray these smiles all over my face
Like every time that I can join my hands with yours today
On a long, endless drive
The road grows longer with each visit
It gets harder every single time
But each time I arrive
Your warmth reminds me why I don't give
Keeps my heart jumping inside
But each time I cross this path
These same thoughts, they hold me back
Until I turn and see the water shine
Sprinkles of sunshine splash along this lake
Like the smile that replaced those tears along the way
Sunshowers spray these smiles all over my face
Like every time that I can join my hands with yours today
If that breath of yours would fall on me
It'd feel like the warmth of a flame
But on each of these days
